Bet Quality Check

A quick, honest checklist before you bet. It looks for missing information, price problems and risk issues — the things that turn a good idea into a bad bet.

Checklist (0 / 15 answered)

  1. Do you have your own fair number (price or probability) for this bet?
  2. Is the exact market price (line and odds) known?
  3. Have you checked the implied probability of that price?
  4. Have you removed the vig / checked the fair market probability?
  5. Do you understand why your number differs from the market?
  6. Is the current price still acceptable against your number?
  7. Have you reviewed how the market has moved?

  2. Is the starting lineup / QB / pitcher / goalie (relevant personnel) confirmed?

A public educational checklist. It never approves a bet and is not an OutpriceTheBook pick.

How this works

Every answer is classified as satisfied, a blocker or a warning. The result is the most serious blocker present, in this order:

  1. PASS / DO NOT FORCE IT — chasing earlier losses, betting only for action, or the price has moved past your number.
  2. RISK CHECK NEEDED — you are not within your own risk limit.
  3. PRICE / EDGE INCOMPLETE — no fair number, or the exact price is unknown.
  4. WAIT FOR INFORMATION — availability / starters not confirmed, or information not current.
  5. READY FOR YOUR REVIEW — no blockers. Warnings are still listed.

Blockers: Do you have your own fair number (price or probability) for this bet · Is the exact market price (line and odds) known · Is the current price still acceptable against your number · Is player / team availability confirmed · Is the starting lineup / QB / pitcher / goalie (relevant personnel) confirmed · Is your information current · Are you within your own risk limit · Are you increasing the wager because of earlier losses · Are you betting because you need action.

Warnings (never block): Have you checked the implied probability of that price · Have you removed the vig / checked the fair market probability · Do you understand why your number differs from the market · Have you reviewed how the market has moved · Have you checked weather / venue (outdoor sports) · Have you identified the strongest argument against the bet.

The checklist never approves a bet. Nothing you answer is sent or stored.

Questions

Why does chasing losses force a PASS?
Raising stakes to recover losses changes the size of the bet, not its quality. It is one of the most common ways bankrolls get damaged.
Does READY mean I should bet?
No. It means the checklist found no missing pieces. The decision — and whether your number is right — is still yours.
